Trump angered by Putin
In his statement, Trump harshly commented on dictator Putin over the shelling of Ukraine.
'Putin has surprised many. He speaks well and then bombs everyone in the evening,' Trump said, commenting on the rivalry with Putin and the need to strengthen Ukrainian air defense.
According to the U.S. president, Ukrainians do indeed need protection from Russian attacks, and the transfer of Patriot systems will be beneficial for both countries.
'We are not paying anything for this, but we will send it to them. This will be business for us,' Trump emphasized.
Although the exact number of systems has not yet been agreed upon, the U.S. president confirmed that aid to Kyiv will be provided, as Ukraine needs to be able to defend itself.
It was previously reported that the Trump administration was ready to provide additional military assistance to Ukraine, including offensive weapons.
It was also noted that Ukraine could soon receive the largest volume of military aid. During the meeting with reporters at the military base, Trump expressed support for Ukraine in standing against Russian threats and critically assessed the actions of Vladimir Putin, highlighting his aggressiveness. The provision of Patriot missile systems could be an additional step in strengthening Ukraine's defense capability.
