Euro-2026 Draw: Ukraine National Handball Team Names Desired Opponents

The Ukrainian national handball team has learned its opponents in the group for the upcoming Euro-2026. The draw took place in Herning, Denmark, on May 15. Our team was placed in the fourth seeding pot, meaning avoiding matches against strong opponents like Serbia or Georgia.

Ukrainian handball players will have the opportunity to compete against teams from all three strongest pots. This opens up the possibility to compete against teams like the Faroe Islands, whom they have already defeated in the qualifying stage, or other opponents.

How the Pots are Distributed in the Euro-2026 Draw

  • 1st Pot: France, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia
  • 2nd Pot: Portugal, Norway, Iceland, Croatia, Spain, Faroe Islands
  • 3rd Pot: Austria, Netherlands, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Poland, North Macedonia
  • 4th Pot: Georgia, Serbia, Switzerland, Romania, Ukraine, Italy

Despite the defeat against the Faroe Islands, the Ukrainian national team will compete in Euro-2026. This will be an excellent opportunity for our team to showcase itself at the European level and fight for high places in the tournament.
