In Ukraine, prices for a popular vegetable have soared: what is the reason for the increase.

Prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine have risen again. This is reported by analysts of the EastFruit project.
Analysts note that Ukrainian producers of greenhouse vegetables have significantly increased cucumber prices this week. On average, the cost increased by 14%.
Currently, large greenhouse farms offer their products at prices ranging from 40 to 60 hryvnias per kilogram ($0.97-1.45/kg).
Producers explain such a price increase by the high demand for greenhouse vegetables, especially during the peak season. However, local produce is limited, which also affects the price.
Key market players also note that due to temperature fluctuations in July, cucumber diseases are spreading, leading to problems with harvesting. This is exacerbated by heat and drought.
The situation in the greenhouse vegetable market has led to a significant increase in cucumber prices compared to last year. Currently, cucumber prices are on average 2.2 times higher than at the same period last year.
Let us remind you that onion and carrot prices have also fallen in Ukraine.
