New rules for currency exchange came into effect in Ukraine: how to exchange dollars now.

The National Bank has updated the rules for exchanging foreign currency
The National Bank of Ukraine has updated the rules for exchanging foreign currency, in particular dollars and euros.
This was reported by the press service of the National Bank.
New currency exchange rules
In particular, it is important to note that currency is divided into three categories:
- Genuine banknotes: accepted for exchange without restrictions if they have minor signs of use.
- Significantly worn or damaged banknotes: they can only be submitted through a special cash-in procedure, which requires additional verification and processing.
- Counterfeit banknotes: they are confiscated by cashiers and sent to the National Bank for examination. If the fact of counterfeiting is confirmed, the materials are transmitted to law enforcement agencies for further investigation.
The 'minor wear' criterion is no longer used
It should also be noted that worn banknotes include torn, damaged, burnt, scorched, spoiled to the loss of security elements, soiled or faded banknotes, as well as banknotes that have been withdrawn from circulation by other countries.
Cash-in is a mechanism used by banks to send worn banknotes to foreign financial institutions for exchange.
It is important to consider that banks and financial institutions are not allowed to restrict exchanges based on nominal value or year of issue if the banknote is genuine.
To avoid problems during the exchange, it is recommended to check the condition of the currency before the exchange and to prepare for the cash-in procedure in case of significant damage. If a counterfeit banknote is detected, the exchange is impossible.
The dollar rate was mentioned to Ukrainians earlier.
