UN reacted to the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to help with a humanitarian mission in the Kursk region.

UN representatives are ready to arrive on the Ukraine-controlled territory of the Kursk region by invitation of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. However, permission from the Russian Federation is required for this. This was reported by UN spokesman Stefan Dujarric.
The organization called on the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross to join humanitarian response measures and to monitor the captured Russian territories of Ukraine, where Ukraine adheres to international obligations in the field of international humanitarian law.
The Ukrainian authorities have not yet responded to the invitation of the Red Cross.
Recall that last week, a humanitarian convoy was shelled, resulting in the death of three ICRC workers and the injury of two. However, the organization's statement did not mention who carried out the shelling and to whom it is appealing to respect the work of humanitarian organizations. The Ukrainian authorities, for their part, reported that the convoy was shelled by Russian artillery, and European leaders condemned this attack.
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the ICRC received a lot of criticism, particularly for not recognizing the responsibility of the Russian Federation for the killings and maiming of prisoners of war in Olenivka.
The Ukrainian army entered the territory of the Kursk region of Russia in August. The Armed Forces of Ukraine claim to control dozens of settlements. An emergency situation of federal scale is in effect in the Kursk region and more than 130 thousand people have been evacuated.
