Ukrainians explained the distance from neighbors' fences for planting bushes and trees.

New rules have been introduced in the State Building Regulations of Ukraine regarding the placement of trees and bushes on private land plots next to neighboring territories. These changes came into effect on October 1, 2019.
According to the new standards DBN B.2.2-12:2019, the distance from the property boundary to the bushes must be at least one meter. For trees, this distance depends on the size of the crown and varies from 4 to 6 meters. However, it cannot be less than half the diameter of the crown. For example, if the diameter of the tree's crown is 9 meters, the minimum distance from the property boundary should be 4.5 meters.
It is worth noting that the new standards apply only to new land plots and weekend homes. Owners of existing plantings do not need to remove trees that were planted earlier.
Regarding other countries, international practice establishes different rules for this issue.
In France, the distance from the property boundary depends on the expected size of the mature tree's crown and can range from 1 to 10 meters. In Germany, there are also precisely defined rules regarding the height of trees and their placement.
In the United States, the requirements are less stringent than in European countries, but the minimum distance from the property boundary is between 2 and 5 meters. For large trees, such as oaks and maples, this distance may be greater. In Asian countries, particularly in Japan, not only legal requirements are considered, but also aesthetic traditions in determining the distance between trees.
Earlier, Ukrainians were explained the importance of increasing the penalties for tree cutting.
