The NBA may have new teams.

The commissioner of the National Basketball Association (NBA), Adam Silver, has announced that the possibility of expanding the league by adding new teams will be discussed this upcoming summer. A meeting of team owners is scheduled for July in Las Vegas, where this issue will be deliberated. Silver emphasized that this is an important step for the association, but a final decision on this matter has not yet been made.

If new teams are approved by the owners, this does not mean that these teams will automatically appear. League expansion also entails the sale of shares, so adding new partners is not mandatory. However, markets in the USA and other countries are not sufficiently saturated, so the possibility of NBA expansion is considered quite likely.

Currently, there are 30 professional clubs in the NBA from the USA and Canada. It has also been announced that the executive committee of the International Basketball Federation has decided to continue the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian teams and national teams from participating in international competitions. This decision will remain in effect until August 2025, when the next meeting of the FIBA executive committee will take place.

Possible NBA expansion may bring significant changes to professional basketball and open new opportunities for both athletes and fans of this exciting game. A decision is expected to be made in the summer after discussions at the team owners' meeting.
