'They will simply cut off the gas': Residents of apartment buildings will be left without gas due to the next 'reform' of the housing sector.

The reform of utility companies may have negative consequences for Ukrainians living in apartment buildings. Private companies that take over management may refuse to service unprofitable areas, leaving residents to solve heating issues on their own. This situation already exists in some cities, but after the reform, it will become widespread.
'In Dnipro, a thousand apartment buildings have been deprived of centralized heating since 2020. Utility services simply said: 'We don't want to do anything with the pipes, it's too expensive, we are cutting you off – get individual heating',' noted expert Oleg Popenko.
The law provides for the transformation of all utility companies into private economic associations. This may lead to an increase in utility service tariffs. The expert predicts a significant increase in gas prices for thermal utility companies, which will result in mass non-payments and debt collection by private companies, including the arrest of citizens' property.
The irresponsible attitude of private companies towards infrastructure maintenance will also become a problem, as they will not have sufficient funds for network repairs. In particular, this may lead to the destruction of heating systems.
The expert emphasized that in many European countries, centralized heating remains in public ownership, as its social function is more important than profit.
Let us remind you that some Ukrainians may not pay for utility services at all.
