Record tourist tax: Ukrainians are traveling more.


This year, tourists will have to pay more for the tourist tax in Ukraine. According to the State Tax Service, in the first five months of 2021, local budgets received 132 million UAH in tax, which is 33% more than in the same period last year.
Kyiv has proven to be the most popular city among tourists. Here, 33 million UAH in tax has been paid, accounting for 25% of the total amount.
Also, with a significant lead in the payment of the tourist tax, we find Lviv region (24.7 million UAH), Ivano-Frankivsk (21.2 million UAH), and Transcarpathia (10.5 million UAH).
The size of the tourist tax is set by local councils and can range from 0.5% of the minimum wage for Ukrainians to 5% for foreign tourists. This year, the tax payment has increased compared to the previous year. The leaders in the amount of funds collected are Kyiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Transcarpathia.
