Ukrainians are charged for utility services in destroyed houses

According to information from the publication 'Khvylya', residents of destroyed houses in Ukraine continue to receive bills for utility services even after their homes have been completely destroyed as a result of shelling.

Residents of destroyed houses in Ukraine face a shocking practice: utility companies continue to bill them for electricity, gas, and other services, even after their housing has been completely destroyed due to Russian shelling. An expert called this situation 'not just legal arbitrariness, but a real mockery of consumers.'

One of the examples of this situation occurred in Kryvyi Rih in 2022-2023, when the local energy supply company continued to demand payment from residents of a building that was destroyed by a missile strike.

Absurd situation in frontline territories

The expert also spoke about absurd situations in frontline territories, where residents who are under the threat of weapons have to pay for utility services, or even pay twice - to the occupiers and after the liberation of the territory to Ukrainian companies.

'Residents of Kupiansk, when the city was under occupation for six to seven months, received bills from the occupiers and were forced to pay them under the threat of guns. After the city was liberated, Kharkivoblenergo demanded payment for that period again,' the expert explained.

The problem of debts for utility services in temporarily occupied territories remains unresolved, and consumers remain in a helpless position.
