German strike drone with AI successfully passed combat tests in Ukraine.

The company Helsing has developed the German kamikaze drone HF-1, which is already being used in Ukraine during military operations in the East. Journalist Julian Röpcke from the Bild publication had the opportunity to see this drone in action during a meeting with the armed forces of Ukraine in the Sumy region. An officer with the call sign 'Romero' explained that this drone can attack Russian logistics far behind the front line, striking anti-aircraft systems, armored vehicles, electronic warfare assets, and fortified positions.
The HF-1 drone has already successfully destroyed many targets. It features a target guidance system with artificial intelligence that makes it immune to Russian electronic warfare systems. When a drone operator sees obstacles on the screen, the HF-1 can autonomously attack the target. According to a representative of the Ukrainian army, all Helsing drones require constant improvement, especially in communication systems and attack algorithms.
Germany has ordered 4000 Helsing drones for Ukraine, of which 1050 are already in combat use. Currently, the company Helsing is collaborating with the Ukrainian armed forces to enhance the drone. For example, the drone will not crash if it loses connection and will remain airborne until it exits the range of Russian electronic warfare systems. The operator will be able to regain control after the connection is restored.
The use of HF-1 drones in Ukraine demonstrates their effectiveness in combating Russian forces. According to a Ukrainian armed forces officer, the military needs more of such drones and more teams that possess the necessary skills for their effective use. Collaboration with the company Helsing and continuous improvement of the drones will help enhance their performance and effectiveness in conducting combat operations.
