An opera about the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP will be performed at the Venice Biennale.

The GAIA-24. Opera del mondo, created by composers Roman Grygoriv and Illia Razumeiko, will be shown at the International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale on October 26. It is part of the Ukrainian pavilion, organized by the Ukrainian Institute. The opera tells about the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP by Russians on June 6, 2023, and appeals to Gaia as the goddess of Earth. It also touches upon the Gaia Hypothesis, which states that the Earth is a living organism.
The performance combines landscape, human body, and stage in an open musical-theatrical process-ritual. It will conclude the public program of the Ukrainian pavilion, dedicated to ecological disasters, water and air pollution, migration, and other relevant topics.
Another interesting event at the exhibition - Adriano Pedrosa has become the curator and artistic director of the biennale.
