In Poltava region, a man grew a giant eggplant.

A farmer from the village of Maly Kobelyachok in Poltava region grew an eggplant weighing over 2.5 kilograms. He claims he did this without using mineral fertilizers. The farmer explains his success by using grafted eggplant crops. He used three interspecific tomato hybrids as the rootstock and the black nightshade as the main plant. The farmer emphasizes that obtaining the seeds of these rootstocks in Ukraine is not an easy task. Although Ukraine is not known for record-sized fruits, the farmer's eggplant has an impressive weight of 2.355 kilograms, whereas the largest eggplant grown in Iowa, USA, weighs 3.770 kilograms.
In addition to eggplants, the farmer also grows other vegetables and garden crops on his plot. He believes that the Poltava region has unique soils that allow for the development of organic vegetable production with good quality and high yields. The farmer intends to grow other hybrid vegetables and berries, including pumpkins weighing up to 300 kilograms and watermelons weighing up to 80-90 kilograms.
