Fraud with humanitarian aid: how the Czech Republic will punish Ukrainian refugees.

Ukrainian refugees must provide truthful information when applying for humanitarian aid. As reported by IOM, if fraud with this aid is detected, Ukrainians may be required to return the funds already received. Specifically, it concerns relationships with newly arrived relatives in the Czech Republic.
The law stipulates that refugees must report this to the Ministry of Labor. Close relatives who have recently arrived in the Czech Republic and also received temporary protection status should be included in their application for humanitarian aid. This applies to cases where they live together.
«The income and property of foreigners with temporary protection status, who live together and jointly cover living expenses, are assessed in one application for humanitarian aid», emphasize IOM.
Therefore, it is prohibited to submit a separate application for a large payment to newly arrived relatives with whom you live. If a person conceals the fact of cohabitation with newly arrived family members, the Labor Government may demand the return of the already received humanitarian aid after verification, IOM notes.
This rule also applies to newborn children. The Ministry of Labor should also be informed if a relative has moved, in the event of a divorce or death. This also affects the amount of humanitarian aid.
Recall that earlier, a 52-year-old man from Rokycany was accused of fraud by criminal investigation. According to the investigation, he fabricated the residence of Ukrainian refugees and received funds from the state. During this period, he earned almost 2 million crowns.
