Currency course in a new way: NBU informed about possible decisions regarding euro.

NBU does not plan to change the main currency to euro
The National Bank of Ukraine does not currently plan to change the US dollar to euro as the main currency-forming currency. This was reported by the regulator, adding that such an option is still being considered.
According to the NBU, the contemplation of a possible transition to the euro began earlier and was discussed at a meeting of the oversight council of the monetary and credit markets. However, the change of the currency-forming currency is not an issue of the near future, and it will be implemented absolutely smoothly for citizens.
Reasons for considering the possibility of switching to euro
The main motives for transitioning to the euro are Ukraine's Eurointegration and the strengthening of the European Union's role in ensuring the country's defense capabilities.
The NBU statistics show that despite some changes, the US dollar remains the dominant currency in the Ukrainian market, especially in the interbank foreign exchange market.
Information also indicates some growth in the use of euros in April 2025, which is related to fluctuations in the dollar and other world currencies. The NBU maintains a position of dominant intervention in US dollars in the foreign exchange market, despite some increase in the use of euros.
