General assessed the actions of the Defense Forces and the Russian army in the Kursk region.

In the Kursk region, two stages of events are taking place. The first stage began when the Ukrainian army entered this territory and achieved its military goals. Now, the second stage has begun.
This was reported by Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko, the founder of the charity foundation "Close the Sky of Ukraine", in an interview with the FREEDOM channel.
The general outlined the main achievements of the first stage of the Kursk operation.
"First: Prevented the enemy's offensive operation in Sumy region. Second: Distracted a significant part of the Russian military personnel... And third: Formed a buffer zone, took control of 1,300 square kilometers, captured up to 600 prisoners... Improved the situation because Sudzha is a hub used by the Russian armed forces to gather forces and lead them to the Kharkiv and Sum directions. This is the first stage," he summarized.
Meanwhile, Russian troops have switched to defense, building fortifications even in areas where the Ukrainian army has not approached. They are also forming military groups to halt the Ukrainian advance and push the Defense Forces back to the border.
According to the general, the Russians intend to recruit 80-120 thousand troops in the Kursk region by the end of the year. Already, there are 50 thousand military personnel, including elite units. This allows them to conduct offensive operations in several directions.
General Romanenko emphasized that at the beginning of the Russians' counteroffensive actions, their intentions were unknown. However, in September, their counteroffensive was disrupted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Currently, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are actively conducting mobile defense, which can be characterized as active counteroffensive and offensive actions.
The general explained that active mobile defense is a complex type of activity because it leaves no Time for construction.
