Up to 41 hryvnias per kilo: Ukrainians shown where the most expensive pasta is.

Pasta prices have risen: what to do?
Almost every Ukrainian family considers pasta and vermicelli not just food, but a true helper in the kitchen: quick, filling, and tasty. You can prepare a variety of dishes from them, from simple side dishes to exquisite pasta.
However, recently going to the supermarket for familiar products is increasingly forcing people to think about prices. Has our favorite grocery really become more expensive?
'Hvylya' investigated what is happening with prices for popular pasta products - long and short vermicelli, as well as 'feather' pasta - in well-known networks such as Metro, Novus, and Auchan. We will compare today's prices with those from March 2025, based on monitoring data from the Minfin portal, to understand how much the situation has changed.'
Considering the current prices for vermicelli, we see that a kilogram of long vermicelli is currently available at the Metro network for 29.90 UAH. As for short vermicelli, it is offered at Novus for 33.49 UAH per kilogram.
Comparing these current prices with the average monthly figures from March 2025, we observe a significant increase in cost. Back then, long vermicelli cost an average of 27.90 UAH, while short vermicelli was 32.10 UAH. Thus, long vermicelli has risen by 2 hryvnias, and short vermicelli has increased by 1.39 UAH per kilogram, which indicates a general trend towards rising prices in this category.
A similar situation, but with a greater price difference between stores, is observed regarding 'feather' pasta. The most advantageous offer comes from Metro, where a kilogram costs 29.90 UAH - identical to the price for long vermicelli in the same network. At Novus, the cost is 33.49 UAH, while at Auchan the price reaches 41.10 UAH per kilogram, which is the highest figure among the studied stores.
The average current price for 'feather' pasta is 34.83 UAH.
Comparing it to March 2025, when the average price was 33.38 UAH, shows an increase of approximately 1.45 UAH. This confirms the overall trend of rising prices for basic pasta products, but emphasizes the importance of comparing prices at different retail locations, as the price difference for the same product can be quite significant, as in the case of 'feather' pasta.
We should also remind that potato prices in Ukraine have suddenly collapsed: what to expect in the coming weeks.
Analysis
Ukrainians are facing a constant rise in prices for pasta products, particularly for vermicelli and 'feather' pasta. Over the past few years, prices have increased an average of 2 hryvnias per kilogram for long vermicelli, 1.39 UAH per kilogram for short vermicelli, and 1.45 UAH per kilogram for 'feather' pasta.
