Man stole money from the family of a fallen soldier — what the court decided.


In the Cherkasy region, a 38-year-old man stole money from the relatives of a fallen defender of Ukraine. He was sentenced to imprisonment.
According to the spokesperson of the Cherkasy regional prosecutor's office, Iryna Sakun, this was reported in a comment to Suspilne.
Details of the case
According to the prosecutor's representative, the defendant, who had previously served Time for intentional murder, robbed the safe in the apartment of his 45-year-old cohabitant and her daughter at night in late April 2025. The offender took 44,000 euros and fled. The money he appropriated was given to the victims by the state as assistance after their relative died on the front lines.
Court decision
During the court session, the accused admitted his guilt. For theft in especially large amounts, the offender will spend eight years in prison. In addition, his property will be confiscated. Until the verdict takes legal effect, that is, within 30 days from the day the court decision is announced, the convicted person will remain in custody.
It should be noted that in Kyiv, a man was tried for stealing a bag with money and personal belongings from a 60-year-old woman. He was sentenced to nine years in prison.
We also reported that in the Odesa region, a serviceman along with a friend stole from someone else's house and took a car. Both were sentenced to imprisonment.
