Father of three children requested a deferral because he pays for the education of his adult daughter: what the court decided.

The Supreme Court decided the issue of deferring military service for a man with the status of a father of many children. The court rejected the plaintiff's request for a deferral. The appellate court confirmed this decision, noting that the plaintiff does not have a sufficient number of minor children.
The plaintiff refers to the Family Code, which states that he is obliged to support his adult daughter and two other children under 18 years old. However, the Supreme Court established that he has only two children under 18 years old, so he is not eligible for deferral.
Detention of the serviceman
The State Bureau of Investigation detained serviceman Sergey Hnezdilov, who left the unit without permission. He is suspected of having abandoned the military unit with the intention of evading military service under martial law.
The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on exempting military personnel from criminal liability for the first unauthorized departure from the unit and desertion. According to this law, a person may be exempt from criminal liability if they voluntarily return to service and obtain the consent of the unit commander.
