Attack on Lipetsk Airfield: How the Russian Authorities Responded.


As a result of a powerful night drone attack that sparked off at a military airfield, the authorities of the Lipetsk region decided to cancel all entertainment events in the region. This was announced by the governor of the region, Igor Artamonov. He noted that sports and family events that will be held will include enhanced security measures. It is not yet known for how long the restrictions will be in place. The evacuation of residents of several settlements is still ongoing.
On the night of July 9, the Russian city of Lipetsk was attacked by drones. As a result, a large-scale fire broke out at a military airfield in the Lipetsk region. Local residents reported that an ammunition depot was on fire. This information was confirmed by the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.
A state of emergency has been declared, and the authorities have begun evacuating residents of four settlements located near the airfield. According to the governor, more than 400 houses will fall into the evacuation zone.
Temporary accommodation points have been organized, to which buses have arrived, and emergency services and local authorities are working at the scene.
