Auchan, Metro and Varus have slashed prices on popular vegetables: how much a kilo of cucumbers, tomatoes and young cabbage costs.


Prices for spring vegetables in Ukraine have changed
In May, prices for spring vegetables noticeably changed in Ukraine according to the Minfin portal.
Spring is known as a Time of renewal and healthy eating with fresh salads made from young vegetables. Cucumbers, cabbage, and tomatoes become the main ingredients in spring dishes, symbolizing a transition to light vitamin meals after winter lunches. At the same time, vegetable prices in May pleasantly surprised Ukrainians with a decrease.
Cucumbers: 'Smooth cucumbers, which previously cost an average of 128.69 UAH, are now sold for 89.13 UAH per kilogram'
Analysis showed that cucumbers have decreased in price across all segments, with prickly cucumbers dropping by 47%. Short-fruited cucumbers and the variety 'Estafeta' have also become more affordable.
Young cabbage
The price for young cabbage has significantly reduced in May, while white cabbage has become more expensive. Prices for young cabbage now stand at 52.17 UAH per kilogram.
Tomatoes
In May, red and pink tomatoes also became cheaper, but the price for 'plum' tomatoes increased. The largest price drop was recorded for pink varieties, which decreased by 72%.

During the analysis of prices for spring vegetables in Ukraine, it is important to consider seasonality and the impact of market factors on price formation. It is known that Ukrainians actively consume vegetables in spring, so changes in their value are significant for consumers. Therefore, current trends in vegetable prices in the country should be taken into account when planning daily diets.
