New Pope Leo XIV: Who Is He?
Today, May 8, Robert Prevost from the USA was elected as the 267th Pope and took the name Leo XIV. The new Pope is recognized as an American missionary who dedicated much of his life to missionary work in Peru. Robert Prevost was born on September 14, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, and distinguished himself as a member of the Order of Saint Augustine.
After receiving his theological education at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, at the age of 27, Robert Prevost studied canon law in Rome and did missionary work in Peru. Later on, he served as a bishop in Peru and held several high positions in the Order of Saint Augustine and the Episcopal Conference of Peru. Robert Prevost also led the Dicastery for Bishops and the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.
After the appearance of white smoke in the Vatican, it became known that the new Pope was Robert Prevost from the USA. He became the first American Pope in history, taking the name Leo XIV. In the near future, he plans to send a papal blessing.
