What will the weather be like in June? The meteorologist suggested a new danger for farmers.

The harvest of fruit and agricultural crops of Ukrainians has been affected by frost
According to the head of the agro-meteorology department of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, Tatyana Adamenko, the April frosts seriously impacted the harvest of fruit and vegetable crops. Due to the lack of pollination and the freezing of flowers, the harvest of fruits will be low, and some crops, particularly apricots, may not ripen at all. Damage has also been found among agricultural crops, increasing the overall impact of the bad weather.
“However, this is already a complex impact not only of frosts but also of drought. While in the west of the country it was cold with rains and snow, in the southeastern and eastern parts it was warmer, although frosts were also present, but not as intense. There, soil dryness was added.”
However, according to forecasts, farmers still have the opportunity to sow or transplant crops until the end of May since the weather is currently favorable. Later in the season, an increase in temperature to summer levels is expected, which, however, may be accompanied by abnormally cold periods.
Looking to the future
In the coming months, weather conditions will play an important role in shaping the harvest. Significant heat without precipitation can become an obstacle to the harvest, while moderate warm weather with rain will bring good results. The threat for farmers may also lie in possible problems with the supply of foreign products and rising prices due to crop damage in other countries.
